Today Raphael wants to talk about the way you think about yourself and talk about yourself.
Raphael says that most of you have bad habits with regards to both these things.
He says that many of you have a tendency to talk badly about yourself and to think badly about yourself.
He says that you get into this habit early in your life because you are not comfortable in talking about yourself in general. Part of it is not wanting to draw attention to yourself.
You don’t want everyone’s eyes on you and you want to divert attention away from you.
(Some of you have no problem with this and yet you still think badly of yourself, in private).
Raphael thinks that you need to spend time thinking about how you think about yourself. You need to spend some time training yourself to be okay talking about yourself, what you are doing and even about how you shine in the world and how you contribute.
If you don’t spend this time, you will default into a shy attitude whenever anyone pays you a compliment. You will shy away from attention and as a result you may not get your due.
Raphael encourages you to spend a few moments now in talking up yourself. What nice and kind words can you say about yourself now.
Here are some categories you can focus on - your body, your intelligence, your contributions at work, your contributions in your family.
While you come up with words to describe yourself, Raphael also wants you to examine how describing yourself makes you feel.
Do you feel good about yourself? Or does it bring up other feelings.
If this brings up negative feelings then you are encouraged to spend some time examining that and to let the feelings rise up within you and leave.
You can also do some inner work about this, too.
Raphael encourages you to take every opportunity to improve your opinion about yourself.
This will help you in the world, immeasurably.
